Nice one keep us posted not sure if myn are old enough they are still pretty small how big are yours?

its layed 4 more clutches of eggs iv been watching it for a wile now .
its not going to the males just laying eggs then puting them onto some amozon swords then eating them straight away  so i dont think the 10 iv collected will hatch either as i only saw her clutching the eggs not going to the males .
maybe the males might not be mature enuff yet

Hi drewry :)

What exactly are you seeing? Have you seen them courting her? The T-Position? Ususlly you will see her clutching the eggs after the T-position. Is it possible you might have missed it?

hi Inchworm :)

i found the 10 eggs on the glass then watched her carefully after that there was no courting or
T-position at all after i found the eggs .
she was going up and down the glass with the males following her then she swam off by herself layed the eggs waited a few seconds put them on my amozon swords and ate them straight away with every batch apart from the 10 i got.
up to now some of the eggs seem to be going white and some dont so hopefully i may still end up with a few and the first ones was fertilised ill know better tomorrow as the eggs from last time went white after 24 hours.
so fingers crossed .
i get my other 6 blacks hopefully on tuesday just waiting for spooky to confirm the day
so hopefully this may make a differnce with a bit more compitition depending on what age and size there are

Hi drewry,

If they don't do the T-Position, they will (of course) be infertile. I wonder if she's eating them because she's aware they're defective. It doesn't sound like she's laying many eggs, so perhaps they are just still young. Let's hope this situation resolves itself as they mature a bit more.

You have described typical behavior for this species, with the exception of their not doing the T-Position. Ordinarily, right after doing it (and laying the eggs) she will pause and rest for a short period of time, then put the eggs where she wants them. Here's a picture of the female during this time:

If your soon-to-arrive corys are similar in size, would it be possible to keep them in different tanks? That way, if this batch does not normalize their behavior, you will still have an opportunity to raise some fry from the new ones.

hi Inchworm

iv got a spair tank i can put the new 6 i get next week in wich is already set up
its only laying 25-30 eggs so they are still juviniles ill keep at it with these 3 and maybe in the future they,ll mature and get it right :good:
