I have always had male bettas, just one or two at a time, never in the same tank of course. But I decided to try females. I picked up two females, that were separated when I bought them and let them sit beside each other for about a day. I put them together tonight and they quarreled for a bit but settled down soon after. Now they are swimming around and exploring peacefully! I know its not ideal, but is it possible for two females to live together?

In theory. Yes they can up but most likely they will Eventually fight and one will end up seriously hurt or injured. It is usually recommended that you have 4+ females so they can disperse aggresion amongst eachother. With just two the more dominant one will go after the sub dominant one and harm her. I would do some research on Betta fish sororities before you ever attempt this again? by the way, I'm guessing that she is already super stresses out as she has stress stripes. It would be a good idea to seperate them now

And if I may ask. Sorry if you are offended by this but why would you do that if you yourself don't consider it ideal for the fish, Ideally as a fish keeper your goal is to make it the best conditions for your fish so you can happily enjoy them. But if you are giving them in un ideal, conditions then you are failing your duty to keep the fish at the best they can possibly be

Let me rephrase, most comments I have seen is that others do not see it as ideal. If I thought that it would harm them in any way, I would not have done it. The well-being of my fish is most important.

Okay, we'll. Then that is still not the best conditions for the fish and my recommendation is that you seperate them and if you have the space, get 2 more if the tank is heavily planted with lots of deco

Definately get a few more. I do love the idea of a nice betta sorority. A large group of female bettas makes a splendid tank!!

Your ladies are beautiful!

Lovely female you got there I would deffiantly get more to cut back on the fighting between the two like said before
I've got 6 in my 30g and I love it, mine are laid back and get along really well now
At first when their establishing the pecking order they got a little agressive towards each other but I think it's nice espeacially when you have a different variety of colors
