My betta's condition

My betta is doing worse than ever now, it seems that his mouth and gills are stuck open.
I don't understand whats going on because it seems that at the time i started medicating this guy, hes started doing worse.
This also happened with my other betta who passed away. I first got him and later noticed that he had fin rot so I put him in a smaller bowl to treat with betta fix. He starts to show signs of stress so I add some aquarium salt. None of this does any help. I first thought that I was adding too much medication but i checked, I have him in a 1L bowl and addint 12 drops like is says to. Then I thought it was the salt but i checked that as well and I don't think i am. Does anyone know if it is unsafe to add Betta fix to a fishbowl that has salt water? Any other ideas as to what I am doing wrong will be welcome.

I have read in the past that some people have had trouble with bettafix injuring their fish... I suggest you find a different medication just incase it is having an ill effect on your fish. Sorry...i really hope that he gets better.

Why do you move them to smaller bowl? If they are already isolated you can treat them in their own tank.

yeah the tank is 2.5 gallons and the med treats 15. So i could use it 6 days and that would be it.

Thanks jayd I have put him in a fresh bowl of water and wont add anymore of this med which i payed $6 for.

btw my betta made it through the night but he's having a real struggle.

Have you ever tried betta max This medicine has everything that a betta needs. Try this out on your betta you will find out that it works great.
