I got home from work at midnight the other day and saw my female very bright with a bulging belly. I thought she might be ready to breed (she gets like this when she's full of eggs and horny) :hey: , then I saw the male and he had a bulging gut too. Then I noticed my preggo mollie was not so fat anymore. Oh no! They did it again but this time I was too late and there wasn't a single survivor! (Last time I managed to save 4 out of more than 30). All this is in a 16g tank that's quite heavily planted with live plants and has plenty of driftwood. The bettas are the most clever little hunters :sly: , they just gorge themselves until they can hardly move! Pigs! The problem is that the mollies are coloured so I can't tell when they're going to drop, I 'll just have to watch out next time (1 is pregnant now).

Goodness sakes! Snotty little bettas were obviously hungry. :p I'd suggest you just keep track of the dates your mollies give birth - around 4 weeks from now she should have kiddos again. If you use a breeding trap, you could stick her in there a few days before her due date... or if not, just keep an eye out in about 30 days. Hopefully you'll have better luck next time!!

I do try to keep track of the times they give birth, but unfortunately it ranges from 4 to 6 weeks and I don't like to use traps because they stress the fish. Oh, well I guess it saves me the trouble of what to do with too many fry.
