Hello Peachykiwi,
Welcome to the forum. I ask all our newbie's this question-where are you from as you haven't told us? Just curious, nothing more. I hope you enjoy your time with us. You haven't really asked us a question with your posting or told us much about your injured fish or indeed about your setup.
Considering you are in this site, I would assume that you have Betta species of fish? If not may I suggest using the appropriate site and any of my colleagues or myself can transfer this posting to that site.
WELCOME ANYWAY.

Hi Peachykiwi welcome to the wonderful world that most of us here now call home.

Your posts ok where it is, it maybe an idea to post a greeting in the newbie section just to say hello to everyone :D

Any in answer to your question bettas like live plants, or you could add a couple of "Silk" ones. as bettas have long fins they are prone to getting dammage easily, so you should have nothing with sharp edges in the tank. Plastic plants are bad and will tear his fins.
Anything else you want to know Just ask.

Hey there and welcome. Nice to have you here and we hope you enjoy yourself here. Rose
