so i got a bigger tank for my betta and its a 3 gallon tank. i had gone to the local pet store and always they tell me that i can not put any other fish with my betta. but he is soooo lonely...i heard some ppl say they do put other fishes with the bettas and i believe i have ask this before but just making sure i can do that or not and if i can what fish would be best to be in the same tank

You could try feeder guppies. As long as the tank has a filer and maybe a heater then the feeders guppies could work. They are often dull so the betta would not attack them and I have seen fancy guppies with a betta in the tank so feeders would be ok. But.... Your tank may be too samll. Bettas are teritorial and need their own space.

I personally wouldn't put anything else in there with your betta. I have a 3 gallon that I used to have my betta in, and it was the right size for him- with no others.
If you did add anything, try one or two albino shrimp or something. But keep in mind they will probably end up as snacks for your betta.
Overall, though, I'd really have to advise against it.
