What is the bubble nest supposed to represent? I don't have any other fish in his tank.

Male bettas will frequently make bubble nests when they are mature enough to spawn. When bettas breed the eggs are kept in the nest and cared for by the male.

i believe that a male makes a nest in order to attract a female, sign of phsycal strength and verility methinks. males with the most impressive nests get to mate, after he batters the female enough.

Bettas will build bubblenests quite happily alone. They usually do it when the weather changes. I have a couple that will only bubblenest when it is going to rain, or it is stormy for a few days. I have some that do it constantly, whatever the weather.

Some people believe that they do it when they are happy. I have found this not to be the case with my fish. My fish are healthy, and happy. Some bubblenest all the time, some occasionally. :dunno:

Male bettas (and some females!) build bubblenests as a sign they are ready and eager to breed. :D They only breed if they're happy and healthy, so you must be doing a good job as a betta parent.

My female builds one every so often, it doesn't last long b/c of a filter, but she builds them. She's all by herself too. Not even a male in the house. Usually you can tell the betta has something wrong if they don't build a nest for LONG periods of time. ANd you can tel;l they are happy when they build them frequently.

 My female built me a bubble nest last night!!! It's all patchy and strung around the tank!!!

Is a series of random bubbles around the tank edge classed as a bubblenest? I just changed Jerry's substrate from marbles to gravel and want to make sure he likes it. He's blown a few bubbles (about 50 all up), is that a bubblenest? They're not grouped, just scattered. -_-

idk but my step bro got a female last night an tried breeding it with my male(i wasnt home) an when they wouldnt breed he threw her in my oscar tank. needless to say she got eatin.
