I just got my first betta this past weekend and for the first day and a half all he would do is hide behind his rock and wouldn't eat or go to the surface. I brought him to the surface with a net and fed him like that twice and since he has done fine, swimming about and exploring. Well now I'm having trouble with him being a little too curious. He seems obsessed with my filter (Elite Stingray 5) and swims around it most of the time. I've read that bettas don't like strong currents and I had the outflow towards the side of the tank, but he keeps getting either pushed away or pulled towards the filter. I've tried moving the outflow to a few different positions but the worst so far as been towards the adjacent corner. I then proceed to read for a bit and when I look over he is trapped in the corner with the look of "Save Me!!!". I have since turned the outflow so that it is facing the side it is attached to. Lets hope that he doesn't manage to get himself into too much trouble.
