Hello. My betta has a small bulge on his side that disrupts his scales a bit. It isn’t big, so it is hard to take clear pictures of it. It has been almost unnoticeable for a few months, but it has recently become easier to see. He eats and swims well at the moment. Does anyone know what it might be?

Is it just me, or does your profile picture look like it has the same bump? If so, it has been there for a while.
Yes, it does look like it in the profile pic. I’m inquiring about it now because the scales no longer sit quite flat in that area. Ideally it’s just what his tail is supposed to look like, but the change in texture is what is worrying me a little. He isn’t a particular old fish.

I hate to guess from a pic. I have one with the same thing in the same area. My betta is going down so I believe mine is a tumor. Antibiotics and anti-bacterial meds did no good for mine. Just keeping him comfortable.
Thanks. I’ll do my best with his habitat and hope he lives a good while with his lumps and bumps.
