this is my betta, bb for blue betta. he's not anything particularly exotic considering i got him at my lfs -- but he's a cool lil guy. i've also got a female who looks to be the same species, but she's white-bodied with reddish fins. her name is pearl for her white color. ;)

Yup thats one beautiful blue betta you got there! If I'm not mistaken, I think your female bettta (if its the same species) is a red tail cambodian just like mine.
wow, thanks guys! i think he's a cool fish, too and has a great lil personality. when i can take a good pic of pearl i will post it and see what you all think. she's not as pretty as bb, but she's nice looking. i like her pearly body color in contrast with her reddish fins and tail.

Your female isn't in with your male is she? Her Anal fin looks a little frayed and his tail as well...might wanna add some salt to their tanks.

Your male looks like my very first betta Nin...I love that Saphire blue color.

how much salt do you think i should add? i am VERY new to this whole fish thing so am not up to par like many of you are. i noticed her tail looking raggedy, also, i guess i'll need to move her to a bowl or something.

as for bb's fins, i don't know where that's coming from but he seems ok. i've noticed that he hangs out inside the castle with the pleco often. the pleco wouldn't by any chance be munching his fins would he?

doubt the plec is munching but you never know.

If you intend to put the female into another community tank at some point I would strongly recommend not putting her in a small jar or bowl. Females tend to be alittle more aggressive after being isolated like that.

Yeah it does look like a red cambodian. I'll try and post a picture once i get home (preparing to leave for school). SRC is right, put some salt; her anal fins looks very bad. Hope all goes well :D

i'm going to buy a small tank tonight for her and add some salt for her poor finnage. thanks for the advice, guys! ;)

Put 1 tsp of Aquarium Salt to 1 gallon of water for a salt bath. You can leave her in this for several days (make sure to still change the water..just make fresh salt bath water when you do). That should help her fins out...your males too.
