Hi all,

I have loads of baby Apple snails on the go, all different sizes, as many of you know I have said that people who are interested are welcome to them when they reach around 1cm size. The ones that hatched first around a month ago are still no way near that size. Am I being too eager or is it just a waiting game. There's more eggs ready to hatch also.
Also what is the general life expectancy of a Apple snail, a friend of mine had a huge one, but it died last week, he bought it as a mature snail from a lfs and has had it for a few years. He is now waiting for my babies to get bigger and he is going to have a couple. :good:

Thanks 3ndl3r.

As they are in a community tank. They have flake, pellets, apple (at the mo) and algae, I've let a small film on the glass to cultivate for the babies to feed on. In fact they are all over the tank, on the glass, bogwood and plants (live). There are more eggs on the go aswell. The bigger of the babies are not even 1/2 cm yet, maybe theres far too many in the tank of differing sizes. All competing for food. I havent got a spare tank with a secure lid on to move them into. So I guess they will take abit longer to reach 1cm at which time they will be OK to post.

Cheers

You can buy special snail food, but its likely the other fish will eat it. Other than that they enjoy cooked veg (like spinach,peas...) and frozen fish food like blood worms etc.

High temp and it will grow faster but die sooner.

click my eggs and babies:)
