This is them now (well over the last few weeks) – Also see how big all of their gills have grown, especially Snoopys as she looked almost baldy when I got her...

Awwww they are lovely! Congrats!

Awww, they look so tiny in that giant tank! Love to see spoilt axies :) What plants are you using in there? I hope they're staying rooted down longer than mine are. My guys love turfing things up. Even the driftwood isn't staying in one place at the moment haha.

They are awesome always wanted to keep these and an idea maybe for my spare 3ft?

Silk plants lol. The big ones in the corner are the ones you put in terraniums to fill it up a bit/hide the filer/reduce some of the flow.

I don't think (as of yet) they've uprooted any plants.

Marmite has took to digging himself into the boat ornament lol.

Oooh, are they plastic the whole way through? I always assumed the metal bit in the middle was dangerous to put in the tank so I avoided them til now. It would save so much effort!

I would try to get them on the pellets. The other foods are not nutritionally complete or balanced. It may just take getting them hungry and then only offering the pellets.

I'm not sure, loads of people use them so I thought I'd give them a go.

Most people say earthworms are the best to feed them?

Earthworms are the best so long as you know the source. I wouldn't take them from my garden but that's only because I know I put ant powder down. But you never do know what's leached into your soil. Best to buy them online. If it gets a bit expensive, Reptomin pellets have been feeding my guys for years. Both are complete diet. Broccoli and peas are good for them too. And they seem to be pretty well received ;)

The standard is salmon or trout pellets (that is what research labs feed them, not hobbyists). I fed mine New Life Spectrum and their growth matched that of the breeder I got them from, they were very healthy and robust. A whole food like earthworms is a great protein source, but lacks many of the other nutrients and definitely doesn't have them well balanced. High quality pellets provide all the necessary nutrients and has them in balanced proportions. For some reason hobbyists decide to ignore this and only feed protein sources.
