I look at all your tanks with the beautiful real plants and the big driftwood or rocks and I'm so jealous! This is my 75gal. It's alright but I want it to look better and more natural. Where in the world do you guys find the big pieces of driftwood? At my lfs they only have pieces maybe 12in long and they are $25 and such. Are there any low maintenance plants that can live in gravel? I'm going to try to nicely suggest to my husband that we remove the big um greek thing, he's just so proud of it though (he bought it for $3).

i actually really like that tank.

Thanks. I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of wishy-washy. I'm always changing my mind. When I first set it up I loved it, but now I think I'd like to go more natural looking. I LOVE the look and idea of planted tanks but I'm not sure I could keep it up. The whole special lighting and co2 stuff boggles my mind. lol :)

What fake plants are in the tank now? lol thing looks nice

hmmmm

i say, remove the ornament, and go to your LFS and buy a nice driftwood piece, you can find them on ebay aswell!

i think just that and a few more plants and tank would be stunning!

Well, you could always keep the greek columns thing and put in some real plants around it. Make it look nice :D
Like uhm.. hmm.. maybe some vallis. Couple of sword compactas.
OOO maybe a few strands of java moss coiling around each column :D lol Make it look like the columns are really in ruins and the plants are taking it over *nodnod*
Just know that it's not exactly easy keeping live plants. You'll need to probably dose with liquid ferts, maybe even get some root tablets for the rooted plants as well, etc etc.

As for wood.. I bought mopani driftwood from the foster&smith website.
They have 3 different sizes, small, medium and large, and all for a decent price. I'm very happy with the medium and large piece I recieved from them. The only bad thing about it is that you can't actually see the actual pieces of wood, so you won't get exactly what ya want.

You could always check ebay for driftwood.
Be careful though. Some of the wood that is sold might not be suitable for aquarium use.

Thanks. I might try a plant or two just to see how it works. If it's low maintenance I might be able to make it work. :)
Ebay does have some really nice looking driftwood for good prices!
Now I need to figure out what new fish to add to the aquarium! :)

To tell you the truth I like lava rock more than driftwood. It comes in a bunch of different colors. I have two in my 10 gallon tank, one is a dark red ad the other is a cherry wood red color. They look stunning under the light, and they are cheap. They come in a bunch of different sizes. They have holes and what not so it would give you the ornament factor and also caves.
