My 55g Tank

here's my fairly new saltwater setup (started may 22). Right now it only has a yellow-tail damsel, a clownfish, an arrow crab, and a couple snails and hermit crabs.

ive recently started my marine tank, but not as far along as you. Im ready to get some clean up crew in this weekend

Any ideas of what other creatures you want to stock the tank with?

hard to decide...I like yellow tangs and dwarf lions though. As far as coral, I won't be able to keep much with the lighting I have - maybe some mushrooms and zooanthids.

A dwarf lion will be ok for a tank this size but tangs will easily outgrow your tank im afraid.
You are better off with dwarf angels as these are easier to care for especially in smaller tanks

btw - I'm using two Hagen Fluval AquaClear powerheads (models 50 and 70). Is this too much water flow? or is it not enough?

670gph is a little low actually. what's the third pump you have in there? You want about 20x flowrate so 20x55=1100gph of total flowrate turning things over in the tank.

it is white and sort of hard...and the "bubble" things get broken off fairly easily.

yes I love him too ...very interesting to watch him move around the aquarium, climb on the powerheads, etc.. Yesterday I found him feasting on a huge hunk of snail (top crown snail) which had died sometime before.

might be bleached and dead coraline algae or calcium deposits... Nothin to get too concerned over IMO. If it were my tank, there would be no damsel in it . Little spawn of satan

yes I'm definitely getting rid of the damsel...athough it is a very beautiful fish

hopefully sometime this week or next week I'll be getting some more livestock (inverts and/or fish)

you might want to take out some of the powerheads while the clownfish is so small, he was really getting smacked around in that tank.
