Hope you like it.

well, I am not very fond of plastic plants, but our tank does look nice. i wouldnt recomend any live plants, unless you want to spend a bunch of money on plants like anubis. You should get some red plants, like ludwiga, but Tetra brand, if you have a petsmart, not sure if they have any in Canada. Those ones look more realistic.

yeah, definetly some colorful plants.

Now, will you be keeping the goldies, or getting rid of them once you are done cycling?

You cycled with live fish?!?!?

Just kidding :p Looks like a nice setup, I think you should definitely try to get some live plants

thanks for the input so far. I have a AquaClear 300. Once the goldfish have done my cycle im gonna give them away to a school or a Old folks home. Also i do believe we have a Petsmart. we also have, petland and a petcetera. ya i was also thinking of a red plant, that should look good.

oh, well if you get rid of the goldfish, what will you put in there? You probebly will be able to have some live plants then, as long as you dont get silver dollars or mollies, etc.

i don't like the gravel but that's just me :p

looks good but as said, plants could use more color!

You're on the right track though. No tank looks perfect on the first try. Afetr a few aquascaping journeyx you'll end up with something awesome!!!

well, id take the fish from the ten minus the betta. Get him some hot platties.

make the tetra schools six. The danio school like 12 because they are cheap. That would look really nice and active.

Hey man, i like the gravel, i like the plants just fine. In my opinion your tank looks great the way it is. I would go with a RTBS for your small shark. Looks like it will be a nice tank.

thanks everybody. I will take your comments into consideration. I know i need more color. (It looks so plain) what color of plants do you recomend for my tank?

If it were me -- and this is completely personal asthetics -- I would move the plants around a bit, either by reorganizing the plastic plants or when you plant the live ones. When you look at any plants in nature (under water or above) they tend not to spread out evenly. The plants in your tank are fairly evenly spaced, particularly the plants in the foreground, which I think tends to make them look less natural. It's hard to tell from a 2-D picture, but also make sure that the plants are staggered in distance from the front of the tank, so that they don't look like a little line of soldiers across your tank. ;)

You might also want to try to have a certain area of the tank that is just open space (no plants). It gives the fish some space to swim freely, and it also gives you an open viewing area. It seems as though the larger, U-shaped piece of driftwood has a hole through the middle. I vote for removing the plant in front of it, and putting that plant elsewhere, perhaps near the right-hand corner. That would give you an opportunity to watch the fish swim through the hole in the wood, would help to get rid of the "evenly spaced plants" thing, and would make the large piece of driftwood a stronger focal point.

By the way, the driftwood you've chosen is great. I love the shapes, and you've done a good job of placing them so that they're not centered in the tank. My eye was really drawn to the driftwood, which is what you want from a focal point. I think if you move that one plant from in front of it, it will be even more striking.

Just my two cents! :)

pahansen, done and done, the plant is moved away.(thanks for the info) I just got these plants off of ebay, and threw them in for now. i gotta find some hardy live plants. when i get it complete (more plants, rocks) i will post the update. I'v gotta get this right sooner or later. :D
