Hi all, first post on the site, i am after advice on my 30 gall and are wondering if it would be possible to add any more fish.

I have
2 kribensis (breeding pair) 3 fry (i will try and save them next spawning)
2 Boulivian Butterflys
3 small clown loaches
3 silver dollars (soon to be replaced)
3 serpae tertras
5 black phantom tetras
1 bristlenose
2 baby (2cm) coolie loaches

All are getting on fine, however the silver dollars have got to go because they ate all my plants.

What do you guys think

you are not kidding they look'd like blood worms at first, my tetras gave them hell for a few days, i thought they'd been eaten but they turned up in a cleaning. 8)

hi there :D and welcome to the forum

your tank sounds lovely.....how long have you had it set up for? and have you got any pics of it you can post?.......just love looking at all the fishy pics :D

you have an awesome selection of fish there ....the clowns will slowly grow to 7 - 10 inches (size guestimate depends on who you listen to - but they do grow big)

the other thing that could affect the number of fish you could add to the tank is whether your little cichlids decide to breed again....my kribs are in a 20 gall with a couple of cories and they seem to need all that space to themselves.......they chased out another dwarf cichlid I tried to put in there.

so.....adding more fish......IMO I'd leave it for a while and see what the cichlids do....you may end up with a whole batch of krib babies

would love to hear more bout your tank and fishes........and ;) see the pics

sue :D

Welcome! You seem to have a lot of my favorite fish in this tank of yours. Sounds lovely! :)

In my opinion your tank is pretty well stocked as it is (once the silver dollars are gone). You could perhaps add a few more of each tetra for proper shoals, or maybe a couple more kuhli loaches, but that's about it. The main reason for this is the breeding pair of kribs you've got; they want all the space they can get when they're breeding.

As suemack already said, the clown loaches grow BIG. Eventually they'll need a bigger home (say 75g and up), but since yours are small they'll be fine for now. Just something to keep in mind for the future.

Thanks all for the replies looks like i'll resist the temptation, don't want to overstock. :/
