Hey guys I just got two baby peacock bass ( Ocellaris ) varient and was wonder how to feed these guys and what is their annual growth rate. I tried feeding them flakes, Hikari cichlid gold sm pellets and Hikari sinking carnivore pellets but they wont touch them. They only seem to be interested in the ghost shrimp which are in my tank as a clean up crew. Do you have any idea how to entice them into eating? Thanks in advance, They are 2" and share a 50gallon togther.LOL also forgive me for posting the wrong section, I thought of the Amazon as a Old world ecosystem.

There`s some profile info on them here:

You need to be feeding them prawn, mussel, lancefish, whitebait and other white fish, no wonder they won`t touch flake and pellets. I don`t mean to be rude but why on earth did you get such fish if you didn`t know how to keep them? :/

you also need to be thinking about a signifigant tank upgrade too if you plan on keeping them 50g is nowhere near big enough im afraid

I use to have a 5" peacock bass which was the same species as the babies have now and he mostly ate Hikari massivore pellets as a main diet. I was just wondering what to feed the babies as they are being stuburn to accept the sm cichlid gold pellets, ghost shrimp, small prawn peices. They seem only to eat the baby convict fry which I constantly use breed to feed my numerous different piranhas.

They are going to get huge. How big is your tank?

Fish, prawns, mussles should be ok. With some patience I am sure they will start to take pellets.

Alright, thanks man. Right now I have the two baby peacock bass in a 50gallon long aquarium, one baby is 2 inches while the other is about 1.5 inches. Im planning to move them into my piranhas 120gallon as soon as I move my piranhas into a 180gallon which I'll be purchasing in late September.
