My 2 male gold barbs have started chasing

.....for the first time since i have had them in 9 months from juveniles. Is it ok to leave them or should I remove the females to another tank ? I have another small tank with 2 female guppies in.

I don't know much about barbs, but most places say
barbs and guppies are not compatable.

Gold Barbs are very inofffensive towards other fish. If the chasing is resulting in damage, then certainly seperate them, but I doubt that. Do the males have a pinkish red colouration over their lower abdomens? This colouration usually appears when the fish are in good condition and thinking of spawning.

Hi - yes the males have that orange/pinkish colour that you mentioned....now that you mention it...it is much brighter than before i noticed the other day without thinking about it so you are probably spot on there.
