Congrats! They are such cute little things. Unfortunately we can't have them where I live but if we could, I would have several. Here's some good info on them: ADF Info

Good choice, here's a pick of our ADF :)

ooh hes a fine looking fella! looks very healthy! i have two of these and i want more - by far the most entertaining creatures ive ever owned! i was told to feed them frozen bloodworm, but mine eat just about anything - they love bloodworm pellets - these dont need to be frozen which can be better if you dont want to put stuff like that in your freezer.

if you can buy more than one, they love cuddling up together!

heres a few snaps of mine...

Great frogs!
I've had one for about five months now, and agree he is a great character, especially at feeding times, i have him in a regular community tank, he holds his own even with the six tiger barbs, though feeding involves squirting defrosted bloodworm at him with a turkey baster (every other day or so) whilst distracting the other fish with their flaked food, this ensures he eats and the fish don't get "lunged" at, though it is funny to see the little guy give them a scare!!

haha yes, i feed my bottom dwellers (frogs included) bloodworm pellets, and Frogbert (one of my ADFS) seems to think its ALL for him, and pecks at the fish - which have the 'am i bothered' attitude XD he soon gave up on doing that and munches away with the fish now

such characters!

DO you have to have an area in the tank where they can be out of the water?

DO you have to have an area in the tank where they can be out of the water?

ADF's dont need to come out of the water, but having them in a very deep tank isn't a good idea because they need to come up to the surface for water and this could tire the out. Most tanks are ok though :good: .

no i dont have any surface area - however the filter top is nearly above water so they can get up there, but they dont - the only time i saw my frog above water was when my banana plant was floating and the leaves made great lilypads but he only ever did it once!

also watch out for current - if you have large current and no quiet area, the frogs will find it hard to get to the top - i often watch mine struggle for hours to get to the top through the filter current - if only they want a few inches to the left and hed be out of the current XD

fanxz 4 al ya info and help, i havnt got a stong current and i have seen him go 2 the top easly and then goes a lil nuts when e comes bk down  , im feedin him on frozen blood worms but i recon e has been eatin my fry that was born last nite, i only have 1 atm but am gettin a new tank when i get paid in about 2 weeks and ill b gettin him 3 more lil friends xx
