Just wondering what your parents used to play when you were younger and at the time you would have been like aww this is rubbish! But then in later life actually started listening to it and begun to like it!

I'll start the proceedings (I'm 24 years old)

When I was younger my mom used to always play Chris de burgh and at the time I used to protest something rotten. When I was 16 I started humming a song randomly and I later discovered it was a spaceman came travelling! Since then I now have 25 of his albums various signed items and I really like his music! I don't speak to many people that actually like him but each to their own eh.

So who is it for you guys? I understand their may be more there is with me such as phil Collins, abit of celine which is weird since I love rock music but I have a wide music collection! Added to this question do you like CdeB? Would be interesting to see how many people do!

mine is the likes of metallica and ac/dc and then to stretch the genre all the way to ub40 and bob marley lol

I know exactly what you are saying. I grew up listening to a lot of punk when I finally decided what type of music I liked. Now that I am 28, I listen to a lot of Frank Sinatra (he was my grandma's favorite), Phil Collins, Genesis, Toto, etc. Just a lot of 80's rock that my mom would listen to in the car and I didn't like then but now that I am a little bit older and don't need to "rock out" all the time I find it nice to sit down and enjoy it.

I;m 34 now
funny enough just started buying Rollling Stones cds as my dad loved them when I was younger, I preferred Beatles but I;ve been reading Keef Richards autobiography and started listeningg to them Brown Sugar what a tune!!!!

Looks like a toon top you must be from Newcastle! Hopefully have a good rusult on Sunday although I have a feeling they will have revenge in mind!

That's what I thought before the stevenage match, we were almost at full strenght apart from the fact we had williamson (laughable), cup games are a great opportunity to play youth players but possibly Pardews decision to play someone like Phil airey when we were going to be knocked out if we didn't win was just plain silly.

I haven't really liked his managing so far and I find it odd he hasn't give Nile Ranger a good chance since joining.

Annoyingly it's not on TV so I guess I'm gona be sitting over my computer come sunday trying to watch it on a post stamp sized stream.

Music wise...

Led Zeppelin, my father always listened to them and I picked up on that I guess. I have most of their albums on their own and then I have the full box set of every album in miniature LP sleeves.

I'm toting with having a bet both teams to score, wither bent or carroll to score first and the same to score last and Newcastle win! I reckon they will both get goals. Newcaslte may have a repeat like last time would be brilliant on sunderlands soil!

Carroll is still classed as injured and unsuitable to play, I was told he fell off a bar stool whilst drunk.

I expect Pardew to play Shola and Best, I do like Lovenkrands though he does seem to pull some lovely play out the of the metaphorical bag quite often.

my dad (im 25 hes 46 i think  ) listened to a lot of stuff like genesis, pink floyd, deep purple, dire straits, thin lizzy, rolling stones, U2. funnily enough from day one i liked it all, apart from genesis

now time has passed, i have also decided U2 are crap  , and while i dont many of the albums from bands listed above, i would happily enjoy listening to them. more importantly it set me up for the music i do own. i listen to lots of stuff from the 60's and 70's, and his music got me into 'proper' bands, with guitars and everything. when i was ten i got my first CD, oasis Wonderwall single, and it confirmed to me that rock/indie is where the party is at.

god knows what would have happened to me if my mum chose the music when i was young. cant imagine burning down the road in my triumph spitfire with The Osmonds blaring out

my mum and dad like Jim reaves, bing crosby, pat boone, the ink spots. i remember how upset she was when i started listening to modern music. things like, David Bowie, iggy pop, pink flyod, ac/dc. well you know..... all the really modern stuff. lol.

i'm stuck now, with a wife, who loves 70's music, even though she is only 35. sadly she likes the "pop", not real music from that time. she also loves 60-70's tv.

mind you, at 51, my musical tastes are wide. i still like the stuff my parents listened to. but am just as happy listening to my 17 year old daughters stuff. and must admit to being partial to a bit of HardCore too.
