Too cold to work outside today, so tanks, and tank areas get some time today… Mrs is out of the house today, so I can crank the volume a little more than normal… I was sitting watching fish, and adjusting the music volume, and Nazareth, Hair of the dog, came on… I swear the Denison barbs started swimming rhythmically to the beat, and my mid sized kissing Gourami started mouthing the words, when they sang… that only lasted for a few minutes, but would have made a cool video…

Do your fish have a favorite song???

I’m cleaning the area to install my 100 gallon RO storage tank, and moving a supplies stand, that makes working on my medium Cichlid tank hard to work on, and vacuuming the floor of my work area, that badly needs it… there were a couple of accumulated totes of aquarium junk, in front of my 35 gallon RO tank, that have to go upstairs, before I can empty and remove my 35 gallon RO storage tank, to make room for the 100 gallon tank…
BTW, I still need to permanently install my new air pump, it’s still temporarily sitting on a tall supplies stand…

I play music all the time in the fishroom. All styles and genres, but with the bass turned down. A good heavy bassline is one of my favourite things, and I love old dub reggae, but that actually affects the fish and changes their behaviour. They'll pick up the bass via their lateral lines, so I dial it down and save the bass and drums thump for the car. There's enough evidence that suggests that lateral line organ makes 'impact' noises painful.

If a classic 70s rock song comes on, the fish seem to feel very old. Country music makes them inbreed. Punk makes them speed around. Opera makes them get picky about their food. Old trip hop makes them wander aimlessly, but marching bands make them shoal.
