Mushroom Separated From Host

i took marine aquarium as a hobby three months ago and my mushroom seems to "close down" and separated from the host life rock. is a normal thing and why this is happening. thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Do you mean it moves? Or that it became separated from the live rock?

If you are talking about Palys, then they do this - the mother colony throws off little babies to start a new colony elswhere
