When I drove back on Hywy 99 with my new girls, some idiot pickup driver suddenly jumped in front of me going slower than the traffic. I had to slam my brakes. Fortunately the girlies box was firmly wedged in and didn't go flying like everything else, but we didn't really pack it tight inside. So while the box wasn't thrown, a bag may have been a bit. (But Whiskers was under my knees and wasn't thrown far, just against the back of my calves.)
But when I checked the girls the next day, the pretty girl I had first been taken with, had a bend/kink in her tail. She seemed to be doing ok and getting around, interested in stuff and eating--even wrestling blackworms. But this morning she was on the bottom sucked against the closest spot to the underground filter. So I took her out. She seems to have some trouble with her swim control, but now in the vase she is able to get to the top. I put a big cloth plant in that even sticks out of the water and she can wedge in at the surface. She is doing a little better and seems to be able to manuveur a little.
I am very sorry Erica. I promised to care for her.
If anyone has suggestions, let me know. I am concerned that she may have tummy trouble. Which is best for me to feed? I feed lots of blackworm, and it seems to be good. They are clean, high quality. But maybe there is something that is better? She was not inclined to pea when I gave it.
Sigh
