Awww *hug* listen, you're definitely not the only person on this forum who has lost a fish. I have actually lost probably around 6-8 :( or so, and each was hard. You have to realize tho, it's just a fish. And that may sound harsh cuz I realize this fish was something special to you, but you will find another. He may not have died from being overfed, that doesn't happen very often. It may have been due to high ammonia levels or something in your tank, or maybe even something you didn't do! He could have been sick before you got him.

And about being a vet - I may be one too someday, I'm 18 now and trying to decide if that's what I want to pursue in college. I've always had a very hard time dealing with animals passing away, and it won't necessarily get easier, but you will learn to accept it and realize it's a part of life, and sometimes for the best. I don't think you'll kill someone's horse if you're a vet - by then you'd know enough to hopefully save it! Hope you feel better, and so sorry for your loss :-(.

well im getting anuther one and hopefully it lives

in my life time i prob lost close enough to 700-800 fishes after along period of time, due to numerous problems..

e.g. electricity going out during late nite, pump stops workings killing about 3rd of the occupents in my tank (thats happened to me quite a few times actually, and was partly one of the reasons we gave up on our old aquarium about 10years ago)

big, fat, deadly unknown disease hitting the fishes during winter and killing a load of them off.

after a while single fish deaths dont really mean much and no way hurt as much as it does when an entire tankful amount dies off.

but the good thing if u have live barerers is that there population comes back pretty quick.

i'm jus wondering, and mean no real offense but do u like cry over a packet of fish finger or something? have u ever eaten fish before? or are you a vegan or something?

I understand if your a lil upset over your fish dying, damn i was upset was my 1ft sucker died, but i never cried over it, or would ever feel like u, about considering being a vet, sorry to be harsh but that sounds pathetic, its a fish get over it and get on with yourlife.
