Hi All

I have a 80ltr tank that i am in the process of moving the fish to a 160ltr tank. When i have done this i want to move the smaller tank.
I will need to empty the tank to move, however i don't want to go through the cycling process again with this tank if i don't need to; so my questions are
Can i empty the water and store until the tank is moved (may take a few days)?
Will all the filter media be ok for a few days stored in the tank water
Will i need to maintain the water temperature
Any advise appreciated
Regards

There is no need to store the water. The water contains very little of the nitrifying bacteria, so it is safe to just discard the old water. The bacteria will have colonized the filter and media. The die off rate seems to be about 10% per day, so over the course of a few days you will lose some of the bacteria.

You can alternatively just move the filter over to the larger tank, preserving your current cycle.
