moving piranhas

Okay i have a question

We'll be moving in a couple of months, by which time our piranhas will be about 4-5 inches.

I know from when we bought them that they bite through the bags within seconds and would have to be out of the tank for a good hour (emptying tank, moving it, refilling & putting back gravel, ornaments etc) so bags are not an option.

What should we transport them in and should we keep some of the old water to fill up the tank again?

Also where should we put the filter medium so the bacteria stays alive (jewel tank so can't remove whole filter)?

Bag the filter media with aquarium water, just like you would bag the fish if they weren't piranahs.

Ah ha! good idea, any thoughts on moving the fish?

Move the fish in a large poly box full of water, your lfs should either give or sell you one if you ask.

I was going to say you could use one of those plastic Rubbermaid type of totes using the tank water.
