When the time comes i want to be fully prepared for the move. I want to make sure i know exactly what im doing and make sure all livestock stays alive. What ive been thinking is this:

2 stirofoam containers one for both fish/ coral and one for liverock and sand.
in the fish and coral i will have a heater to make sure tempertures dont go crazy, and a water pump or "bubble machine". And then from there do a new regular set up once situated in my dorm. The trip is an hour and a half away...Is there anything im missing? Is there anything i need to do specifically once im setting up the tank for good at the dorm? Let me know

thanks, flash

For a trip that short really the only concern is corals flopping around in your styro. The best way to do it is to attach styrofoam to the underside of the corals via rubberbands or string, and then float them upsideown in the water. This keeps the corals both submerged and from blasting into each other.

but if they are floating up side down wont they hit each other? And will it be ok to have all my coral and fish in one styro?

Just make the styrofoam you stick on to the bottom of the coral wider than the coral itself, thus styro will hit each other but not coral skeleton ;). Also remember, corals WILL be withdrawn during the move process :)

Lol, you won't need a heater in forida at the end of august ;)

Never, ever claim to a person from Buffalo that your weather is "crazy" ;). When it goes from 68 to 20, and drops 2 feet of snow in 24 hours you can call your weather crazy

I'd sell my soul for your "cold snap" right about now

For a trip that short I persoanlly would just bag all your livestock individually, then pace into a poly box

simple but effective

he he Ian's really looking forward to all the snow and cold. it's barely reaching 60 over here at the moment and it's too hot for him

I've moved my tank alot of times.

All i do it bag everything up ( fish, corals, rock) and put in a polybox. I leave the sand in the bottom with a bit of water and i put the rest of the water in containers! It al goes int he car and off i go!

I would be very carefull about llifting a tank with wet sand in the tank when lifting , as the downward pressure may be to much for the base glass
