0ok so i'm movcingf house tomorrow. my lfs was "helpful" and gave me 2 bags to put my fish in and told me to drain most but not all water out and move it that way. HOWEVER, can we really be sure that if we do that with out Jewel 60 (approc 10 gaollons) the bottoms not going to fall out?

Was wondering whether it'd be ok to put some of the water (and filter) in a closed bucket (moving only 20 minutes) and then put the fish into my smaller tank for the journey?

OR do they need to be bagged and in the dark?

HElp!

When I moved I put the fish in a 5 gallon bucket with aquarium water in it. I also put the filter cartridge in the bucket. Like you, I only moved about 15-20 minutes away. As soon as I reached the destination I set up the tank again and everything was fine. I would drain all the water if you could and you might want to put the gravel in another bucket with aquarium water. If you keep it wet you won't kill off the bacteria in the gravel (or sand). Just make sure you use aquarium and not tap water. Good luck!

Also, keeping the fish in the dark reduces stress and keeps them calm.
