Ok so at the moment i have a 4 x 1 x 1 tank which has been set up for around 2 years with a pond power head in side i have bought a 6 x 2 x 2 fish tank a few weeks back and have finally made a stand for it last night. I have got some bricks on order which are arriving today. Im gonna put the 6 x 2 x 2 on top of bricks and a thick plank of wood to make sure it secure. My question is if i got the stand set up today and got the 6ft done then would i be able to move everything from the 4ft to the 6ft or would i need to cycle the 6ft first ? My plan was to catch the fish in the 4ft put them in a spare tank and then move the sand from the 4ft into the 6ft and all of the water from the 4ft into the 6ft and move the filter over has well and then just add the fish into the 6ft but im just wondering if it would work and if it would be safe for the fish ??My 6ft has a overflow on it for my sump but im planning on not filling it right up to the overflow and just using a inside tank filter for now till i get the pipe work.I don't know if to build the stand to day and then move the fish over or wait till i get the sump set up and cycle the sump for a few weeks and then move the fish over..

As long as all your filter media moves with the fish, either in the same filter or a different one, you can move the fish straight away.

Thank you. I was planning on moving everything over and then when i get all the pipe work set up the sump and have the sump running has well has the filter in till the sump cyle's I was just worried because it is a bigger tank

Just make sure you keep testing the water after the move, it can be possible to damage a small percentage of the bacteria and get mini spikes of Ammonia and/or Nitrite so just keep an eye just in case.
