Hello all, I know I have been away for a while. I was in trainning for the Army, and am now back amongst the living, with internet again. So I got posted here in Germany. I have opted to sell my tanks back state side because, although I could move them with the rest of my household goods, I figured it would be more of a pain than it was worth. Plus all the power is different here, so I would have to get all new pumps, filters, etc anyway. All my tanks and fish are going to a good home, he has been keeping fish for a very long time (more than 10 years) so I don't feel too bad about it.

Anyway, my question is, I am looking to start up a new tank, something not too big, simply because I am only going to be here for 3 years, and also, because the space in the apartments/houses here in Germany are somewhat limited. I have not moved out of Army housing yet, still waiting on some paperwork to allow me to do that. But long of the short is, what type of fish would you reccommend for a smallish size tank. I am thinking in around 20-30 gallons max.

Also I am really trying to avoid the multi tank syndrome from happening here. Again don't want to be left with several tanks to try to get rid of once the time comes to move. Also, looking for fish that have a shorter lifespan (in around 2-3 years) again, for the simple aspect of not wanting to try to find them a new home, or moving them back to the states.

Thanks for your help, really looking forward to having fish again.

Edit: Have to apologize, I just re-read this post and it sounds aweful, like I am just wanting to get fish and kill them after 3 years. Let me just say that is NOT the case. I enjoy the hobby, I find it relaxing and enjoyable to watch the fish. I really miss my cherry barb school, they were always a joy to watch them playing in the current with thier adopted zebra danio school. Anyway, I am not even sure if I will be able to get a tank, it ultimately would be up to the land lord of the place I rent. I just wanted some suggestions in case I opt for a smaller tank.

Thanks again.
