One of my breeding female BN's affactionately called Blackie  , was out this afternoon showing off her mothering skills and I thought it was too good an oppertunity to miss.
So here she is my Mother of the Year.

I bet she was just glad all 200 fry wheren't piggy backing on her  .

Wow great pics Baccus, she is a real black beauty. 200 babies :hyper: she must be a real gem to put up with so many kids....yes a real mother of the year.

Yeah she puts up with them now but the male babysat them through their early development. Still she is a good Mum.

Its a community tank, other inhabitants are Dwarf chain loaches, Pakastani loaches, cherry shrimp (and a couple of other species of shrimp) Endlers, golden tetras and Black neons. Actually about the only "species"body of water I here is my 1000L goldfish pond  , but no that used to be the case until cherry shrimp hitch hiked to the pond and now they are in that too. Actually all my tanks are community, I don't think I could bare seeing a stark tank with only the breeding hollow and filter and expecting the fish to produce bubs like clock work.

Thanks

I was just curious as to the amount of them that survived i thought you might of had them in a breeding tank.

I guess I just have a really good male bn who cares for the eggs and fry really well  and then by the time the fry are out and about in the tank all the other fish ignore them. I actually think that its by having the babies born and raised to a certain size in my standard planted/ aqua-scaped tank that enables so many babies to survive, the water parameters are all stable.
