My white male with the tail rot is getting worse every day. Anit-fungus has FAILED. Marafix has FAILED. Jungle's Fungus Clear has FAILED.

What else is there? Nothing seems to get rid of his finrot. It's like super fin rot!

I just posted this a few minutes ago...

Not everyone will agree with me on this, but I am a believer that fin rot only comes from water quality, so definately keep the water absolutely pristine as you get her through this. It can definately be driven by other things, ie an injury, but the water quality is going to determine where it goes from there.

I hate melafix personally and never use it. I'd get some silver asap, you'll be suprised. Try to get a ppm of 500, get it in the dropper and see if you can get her to take it orally as well as it being in the water

Maracyn II is pretty amazing stuff, but it is also really harsh. If you can get a hold of the silver I think that would be your best bet.

The silver is colloidal silver and you can buy it at health food stores

Well, I purchased him like this, and his water is changed 100% every day.

Okay on the silver. Would it treat anything else? I think the fin rot has gotten to the point that other conditions are present. Maybe cotton mouth, but I can't tell for sure since he's small and white.

On the silver, how would I get him to take it orally? And is it actual silver... or what? I've never heard of it before. How much does it run?

This answers your first question...

It will honestly treat anything, even dropsy, so definately give it a try thumbs-up.gif

In advanced stages of fin rot, you may see that white growth on the edge of the fins. This isn't actually fungus, it is a feature of fin rot.

You add the silver to the water. It is called colloidal silver, and you should try to purchase 500ppm or higher (anything weaker will probably be ineffective & a waste of money). The darker & thicker it is, the better.

It's usually around $15, from what I gather.

You may not want to change his water 100% every day. He'll need to readjust to the new water every time you change it, so it might be less stressful for him if you change the water every other day. What size tank is he in, by the way?

He's in a small clear jar so I can dose easily and see him extra well.

That'll eat up all my cash, but if it works, then it's worth it. What are the dosing per gal?

You really can't overdo silver. I put a 5-10 drops in 5 gallons just when I do water changes and then if someone's acting funny I add more to their tank. If you feed your fish with a dropper or baster, you can get them to take it straight from the dropper.

The cost isn't so bad when you consider how long it lasts, all the other meds it will replace, and how healthy your fish will stay
