first of all I'm sorry for not posting this earlier because I'm to addicted to facebook. anyways a couple weeks ago I went to the mall to do some christmas shopping and I saw the malls PJ's Pet Shop, so I decided to take a look at some fishes, then I took a look at some Bettas. but I saw one cup with a little water in there but no Betta, then I saw one cup with two Bettas in it. so I notified one employee and he was quick to put one of the Bettas in the empty cup.

What kind of sick individual would do this?

That's really lame. Glad you caught it.

Apparently a lot of fools pull this stunt at walmart and such. You would have to be a psychopath to get a kick out of that.

you have to be a ****** to even put a betta in a cup in the first place, but 2 males in one small cup?!!! thats ridiculous.

that could be offensive to some.
and fyi-bettas are almost always sold in cups in the us.some larger than others but still cups. some stores are good about keeping them clean, others not so much.
id be pretty sickened if i saw this too :(
cheers

I've seen this at Meijer (big grocery store kind of like walmart) many times. The bettas are right by the food so I always check on them when I shop, and I just put them in separate cups if they've been combined. Fortunately I've never seen any injuries as a result of stupid people.

I told one of the pets at home staff off for having male and female bettas in together, and he very quickly moved the male. Never seen 2 males in together though, only ever males and females.

I've seen this happen too at wal-mart. Luckily both of my local wal-marts have stopped carrying fish. It was so horrible, there were three males and one female all together in ONE cup. :(

Were the cups side by side? as it is possible one of the bettas just jumped rather than somebody deliberately placing the two together.

beeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttaaa people
