My LFS said that moss balls from a FW tank would be OK in a SW tank. Does anyone know what they are on?

I would suggest that you stop going to that LFS.

I am not going there again, every time i do i end up having an argument with one of the 12 year old staff. They asked my friend to leave before because he corrected one of them infront of a shopper.
