The garter got his substrate changed today, so new pics were in order
Look how big he has gotten! Moments later, there were only 3 fish in his water dish, hehe.
Eating a frozen pinky that the African house turned down
The lovely African house lady... she has a vet appointment Friday because I think she may have a respiratory infection. She hasn't eaten either, even though it has been a week now and she should be hungry. I am worried about her, but she is still very alert and active, so I doubt there's anything too serious going on.
Diva wants to eat her
Aaaand a striped bark scorpion! One of a trio I got today, but this is the only pic that came out clear. They are just natives, but I think they are lovely. They were listed at $4.99 each, but the store owner (who I love, he is really nice) said he'd give me the whole setup, including all 6 scorpions, for $15 ! I don't need 6 scorpions and didn't like the setup, so I opted for a trio for $10 instead. He also offered me 3 Texas cave scorpions, another native listed at the same price, for $15 including setup . Soooomebody wants to make room for new exotic species, methinks. Anywho, these guys are very active, not reclusive at all, and fun to watch. Their sting is more serious than the stripe tailed devil I've got, but they aren't prone to stinging. Not dangerous either, just painful, potentially for several days . Either way, I am not planning on handling them.
Funny thing was I bought 2 dozen crickets too, and he put them in a styro cup identical to the one he put the scorpions in. So on the way to my apartment, I drop both cups... and now I have a cup full of crickets (which they call a "cricket bomb" because they go everywhere when you take the lid off) and a cup full of angry scorpions, and I don't know which is which
