For Panaque-o-philes, Hirofumi Nonogaki's home page might be interesting. Also see these:

http://tiger.towson.edu/users/hnonog1/Field%20egg1.htm (dissections of egg-laded panaques)
http://tiger.towson.edu/~hnonog1/Field%20Japanese.htm (field trip, in Japanese, but cool pictures)

This is the researcher who has been helping me on the Wikipedia articles for Panaque and Panaque nigrolineatus.

A bit of information that might be a clue to fishkeepers anxious to spawn these fish is that they only breed in rocky areas, the females laying the eggs under rocks where there is less water current. They breed as small as 20 cm.

Another thing: in the lab, to get Panaque spp. growing quickly and reliably, they do numerous (2/3 times per week) water changes, but only a little at a time (one-tenth to one-quarter).

Cheers,

Neale
