That first picture is awsome you have some very beautiful ferrets...I love the one is the bed also...

Thanks AngelLady - we get about 100 - 150 ferrets in a year so we get some that are beautiful! Of course, they all are to me!

100-150! I wish I had a ferret. But I think the only place you can get them is from Petco. They sell lots of small animals over there. I always wanted a chinchilla ,but there too big. What type of cage does a ferret need? like a hut type or an outside thingy?

Don't worry - we re-home them from the RSPCA! We don't keep them!

A hutch can do (providing it's big enough) but if you've got the room... an indoor cage, designed for ferret, is better.

Well I have something that looks like this

... Is this o.k or do ferrets like shorter and longer than tall and short?

-Arrowhead :ninja:

Longer would better. If you are thinking about getting a ferret - just make sure to do lots of research first (I know you probably would, but it makes me feel better to say)

Whereabouts in the UK are you, been looking for a re-homing centre in ne essex with no luck

I will say this to everyone who wants a ferrets or thinking about getting one. Please do all the research first and second thing ferret proof your home before you get one also, they do much better if you keep them in pairs. I never meant for this to happen one of my ferrets got into the listerine that one of the cats knocked over and it almost killed him. He got soused and not to mention I had a outstanding vet bill when I finally got to bring him home. And this was due to a accident over turn of something. Ferrets are wonderful pets if you are willing to spend most of your day with them...And devote your time to them because they demand the attention.

Do they bite? Or are you supposed to train them? Im thinking of getting a hamster but by the pictures of them I like more active pets so I thought that ferrets would be a good pet to run around the house and play with me & stuff, are they active or do you just carry them around?

you are going to research about them first right?

Of course im going to research about them. But thanks for reminding me.

They are like any animal when it comes to biting. If you mis-treat them and don't give them attention and regular handling - then you cannot be surprised if they bite.
At least 2 hours human-to-ferret attention is required everyday.
AngelLady gave some great advice - keep them in pairs and ferret-proof your house (they are fantastic escape artists). The word ferret comes from the latin word 'furo' which meant theif, this gives you an idea what they are like! They can crush their own ribs just to get into a gap - so their area really needs to be safe.

Feeding Guide

Here's a little guide to feeding.

Lovely pictures there!
I've got a couple of rescue ferrets in temporary residence at my place at the moment since the rescue our club is affiliated is running out of space to put all the animals. I suppose this time of year people are 'unburdening' themselves :/ :grr:
The pair that are with me were given up very reluctantly by someone who unfortunately has had a big change of circumstances. They were well loved pets, which makes it sad to take them. There's a six year old jill (very nervous and quite bitey at the moment, poor lil girly) and a three year old hob (he's GORGEOUS and totally bombproof - really friendly, gentle and playful).
Arrowhead... take a look at my ferret site for some information: http://www.freewebs.com/planetferret (most of the care information is there, but I haven't got around to adding all of the information as I've been pretty busy of late - check back though as it's something I'll be adding over the next few weeks hopefully)
The best way to see if ferrets are the right animals for you is to call up a ferret club and talk to them - see if they will let you come and meet some ferrets and see where they are kept etc.

Edit: Oh and also... my site has a few short videos of some of my ferrets on it if anyone wants to take a look

I didnt see spooks till this time I guess my computer was working slow when I first took a look at your pictures. I want to nominate the first picture for POTM I just love it.. And your two little white ferrets are beautiful also... And another thing how is Benson doing. I want to see some pictures of the little fellow and I want to know is he growing like he should be and if he is scared of humans now that one has treated him so bad,, Poor little fellow...I just love that little fellow I think about him all the time and the offer still stands if he needs a home I will come and get him. I have been wanting to take a trip anyways... :D
