More Corys

ok I have tried everything and my four corydoras reticulatus are just not settling in, they are the scaredist fish in the world. Ive tried evrything with tank setup and sometimes it helps a bit but ive decided I am going to try upping their numbers and see if it helps.

I know there are questions about different genus schooling together but I wondered if purely from a safety point of view they would see a different type as still being safety in numbers?

I could probably up the number of reticulatus as my local lfs still does them, however, I thought for something a bit different it might be nice to have a different look. Also is there a certain type who are more confident (perhaps tank bred?) who might show my other four that life is great encourage them out!

If you have choice between same spiecy or different, you ought to go with same spiecy to increase the number of group. They would feel more ease with their own kind, and interact more than with other kind.
Also I am wondering what kind of tankmates you have for them. Sometime that make the whole difference how your Corys act. If there are some fish too big or too robust, they make some of the Cory act shy and scared.
And having hiding/cover/plants in back and side of the tank make Cory feel more secure and confident of their surrounding and make them come out more and venture out more.

Yep I think i am going to go with the same spiecies!

The tank also has cardinals and a pearl gourami. The pearl chases everything after bloodworm (dunno why - its like giving a kid sugar!) but thats only once a week. I have lots of plants and am always adding more - they have plenty of hiding places - which they use!

The thing is its not the other fish it ME ! I come in and I can see they are out and woosh- they hide away again. I look at the left side of the tank they fly to the right !

I was thinking about taking them back but i love the fish and want to try and make it work, so the other option is to try and add more and see if that settles them.
