More Bala trouble

Ok, now I have another problem with my Bala. He has been fine for a while, but now he has a red spot on his bottom fin. Someone told me it was a parasite, but I dont know. What should I do?

When you say "red spot" is it protruding out from the fin or does it look like possibly a blood spot??

Is it at the base of the fin??

If it's at the base of the fin, it could indicate a bacterial infection!!

Let us know what the answers are to these questions and we can advise from there.

Ran a brief search, and best I come up with is fin rot. (Also red pest--said to lead to fin rot, but no real info, so same diff. I guess as a couple sites said fin rot can start w/ the red streaks.)
Usu. due to bad water quality. I would say test your water--post your results!-- and maybe do a small water change to clean up.

I am getting kind of worried now, because I put some medicine in there that treats the symptoms he has, and it seemed to be getting better. Now, he seems to be getting worse. He seems to have a little umm...how do I explain this..."fuzzy stuff" in his left gills. HELP! I am in dire need here!

What kind of medicine? and for which symptoms?

I think it is pretty much hopeless now. There is some really fuzzy stuff latched onto his gills, and he has scratches on his side. I wanna cry!
