So my tank was completely green and I got some insert for my filter that removed phosphates, so now that's gone but it seems the hair algae has taken the opportunity to come in, now....

Do you have a drinking water filter or a R/O unit or even use R/O water for top offs and such? This would probably help your algae problem by getting out the other metals that cause the algae. Good luck!

HOw much cleanrup crew do you have? if the hair algae can be cut down and a large cleanup crew is in place then they can usually tackle hair algae. However, this doesnt tackle the root of the problem. Algae of any description needs 2 things to grow well. Light and nutrients so if you have these 2 things then algae will grow in abundance.

How old are your bulbs/tubes? These should be changed ever 12 months, as the lights grow older they will move in colour spectrum and this can promote a more comfortable environment for algaes.
You mention that you have used Rowaphos? This means you have hi phosphates. Algaes can use nirates as well so its worth checking nitrates and phosphates again. Do not check the water normally, do the water test with water close to the growing hair algae as this will be the area richest in nutrients.
