I'm trying to get some moonlights on my main tank.

Am I correct in saying that Plecs do not recognise the light from blue LEDs so will carry on their nocturnal behaviour regardless? I'm sure I've read this but just want to check. Would be great to see them all going about their business a bit more, not to mention a nice way of phasing the main lights on and off in the tank.

I read a post on the DIY/hardware section recommending a set of LEDs off Ebay, looks like a good product from a reliable company.

There's a link below, I understand if mods want to remove it, just for information really.

So will this kind of thing mean I'll be able to see a bit more of my plecs?

Its not true that they can see the light... (this includes red too - that lots of people say they can see)

But in a dark room, the low level of lighting means they cant see out of the tank :)

Just to say, I recently bought the twin set off the same company and would definitely recommend them. Delivery was fast, packaged well & in my opinion they're a MUCH better choice than the cold cathode kits that you can buy from other sellers on eBay.
And yes, you WILL see more of your plecs with the moonlights on - or at least that's the case in my experience. I've also noticed that my loaches (zebra & polka-dot) are less skittish when the moonlights are on

Hope this helps

Justin
