ok i got a Rio 400 which has the light bar in the middle of 2 full length plastic flaps.

1 light is white one has a blue tint to it which i am guessing is juwels UV light.

I want to fit a moonlight system probably cold cathode as the how to guide is very good no problems there. I am just wondering where i can fit it too? the flaps are half covered by the lights.

any place there is atiny bit of rom. get a pic of your hood it will massivley help

Ok here what i could get with me camera phone, camera batteries are dead.

Hood shut

there is space infront of the front light and space behind the rear light half way across both flaps.

Just so you know i have not got a condensation tray because i dont think one will fit under the lights/light Bar and the cross struts, and i get a fair bit of codensation on the flaps/light tubes over a day

put 2 30cm cold cathodes on the flap that you have lifted up, just silicone them in place, should be fine, or any other place they can fit.

well i get condensation, but not massive amounts. what is your tank temp?

Its doing a fishless cycle at the minute so its quite high at 29c will drop it to around 26 once its cycled though so that thinking about it is not gonna help with condensation.

I have just ordered two 30cm cold cathodes with inverter. Better did out my old variable voltage power pack from an old laptop

the condensation appears when the tank is hotter thn the room, so heres some tips

keep reducing down to 24 or at most 25C fish will still be happy., this will reduce the gap between room temp and tank temp and also save you on heating bills. (when you do water changes putin slighlty warmer water and this will save you on leccy)

i have the flaps up on m tanks 24/7 so the heat from the tank can escape along with the gases. stoping lots of condenstion.

Take one part of the lid off, Dry it, silicone it in place with aquarium silicone, then let it dry properlly (3-5 days) then put it on, as it is water proof anyway condensation will be no problem...

try and get your cold cathodes from ebay seller razoropto,
he is the only one that silicones the tubes and the leads that go into the inverter to prevent condensation damage.
of course you could always do that yourself. :good:

You'll get Cold cathode's From Ebuyer.co.uk
(lots of colours available, Red, Blue, Clear, UV ect..)

They are about £2.99 for a pair inc. invertor.

Take the black case off the invertor, and fill with silicone, then place the board back inside - you now have a waterproof invertor.

Silicon the ends of the CC tubes - to make them waterproof.

All you need now is a 12V DC supply - Availble from Ebay for around £5.

Hope this helps... :good:

Too late i ordered them the other day so see how they come but reckon it will be DIY for what you've said there.
