I have just bought a moonlight effect strip of LED lights, these lights are blue and quite bright. Just was wondering if anyone has used a similar sort of lighting effect. I have tried it just to see how it looks and it looks good but i think the lights might be a little bright but not sure. The lights are for a clown pleco...

LED's are very bright when you look straight at them but they are very directional so the light doesnt spread like a normal luminair.

So should be ok.

Cool thanks. I want to watch the pleco come out and swim around and have the other fish dormant so i guess i can just try and see how it goes.. ta (will need to figure out how to post pics)

Alot of tanks, mine included, have them as standard so I cant see them being damaging.

Very good for watching night habits. Neons look great also.

I have blue LED lights on 2 of my tanks. Both are called 'wide angle' LEDs. I have 4 in a 6 foot tank's hood and 3 in a 3 foot tank's hood. The 4 in a 6 foot tank is just enough to give the water a nice diffuse glow when the main lights go off. The 3 in the 3 foot tank almost lights the tank rather than just giving it a pleasant glow. I would say that a lot depends on the effect you are looking for.

The whole idea behind it was to allow the clown pleco to come out and we could watch it feed etc
The lights are quite bright and its a strip of 9 lights. so what i have done is turned the lights facing the top of the hood and slid them behind the main light tube. only problem is when i feed the pleco the algea biscuit the rest of the fish still try eat it grrrr

Try getting a clear plastic tube & drop the biccy down that to the plecys mouth. Thats way the other fish dont know he has got it.

i will try that although i am not too worried yet as i leave the one side of the tank with algea on it and there is a bit of mompani wood in the tank too. can also feed it cucumber.

Any ideas where to get those in the UK?
