One of my LFS told me that the Montipora is just like Acropora , but the Montipora is alot eayser to keep? they said you don't need to add all the trace elements like you do with the Acropora .. is this ture?

thansk!

Not as far as I know. Some montipora are fine with less light if I remember correct, but otherwise the two genera are similar.

Encrusting montipora tend to like the high-lights, but plating species do well even under PCs. They will require stable calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium though :)

ski (i remember you telling me this once, but i forget) whats the visual differences between an encrusting and plating? Im not exactly 100% sure what type mine is (ask if you need a pic)

Yours is a plating Montipora Capricornis if memory serves. Plating monti's literally grow like free-standing dinner plates. They'll grow out in a tier almoast like flower petals. Encrusting montipora swarm over the rock they grow on using that rock as support for their skeleton. They do not grow out or above the surface of the rock they colonize. There's one more type, Digitate montipora. These Encrust like their cousins but also grow stalks similar to acropora.
