hi

i have had a monti in my tank for 3-4 years and is 3ft long and i woke up this morning with white dots all over it there is about six small white bits and i bought a bird nest coral yestarday and thier is small thing liveing in and has spread onto the monti is that eating of it

regards scott

What sort of "small thing is it? Can you try to describe what you can see of it, or better still, post a Photograph?

A Freshwater dip may kill and remove most hitch-hiking pests in birdsnests. They are IME very good at hiding hitch-hikers

All the best
Rabbut

when you say small white things do you mean like snails or worms etc? we could do with a bettefr description or posibbly a pic. also do they seem to be causing harm to the corals eg. are they defo bleaching or is that what you are assuming???

Sounds like montipora eating nudbranchs to me. You can try iodine dipping or using flatworm exit, but the coral can be hard to save once the nudibranchs take hold. Repeated dipping over a week or two period is required since the treatments do not kill the eggs. Good luck

i can just see a few big air bubbles under neath the monti would that couse it ?? and the bug are just Copepods that have came throgh live rock

Well, if it's not monti-eating nudibranchs, You've gotta deal with out-of-range light, flow, or chemistry (calc/alk/mg). Also possible a fish is nipping it.
