Welcome to the forum Rafdshock.
The difference between the goldspot and the black strain are more a case of the breeder's distinction than a distinction based on the fish's genetic composition. Some fish have a tendency to exhibit a particular trait more than others. Those fish often get called by a unique name when their strain is being promoted. That appellation is not very relevant to most of us here. It is the breeder's way of trying to set their fish apart from other fish. If I can, as a fish keeper, continue that particular strain, it has a value of sorts to me. If I cannot continue the strain of fish and its genetic traits, it means nothing to me as a breeder. We really need to try to understand the relevance of new species strains that are given us in the hobby. If it is a truly unique combination or method, we may well honor the originator of the new trait. If you are one of many breeders that have a way of encouraging a new strain, you have no such reason to expect recognition of your contribution, if any.
