Well, you know the answer already which have been given by my fellow members. It's such a pity that fish are mislabeled at a store. And when they even sell it as if they were the fish that the label says, tells already something of their lack of knowledge. I hope they didn't call themelves "specialists".Hi, I bought these from a tank labelled Molly fish but the more I look at them the more I think they are platy fish…could anyone please advise? Thanks.
to be fair, it may just have been a case of the tank labels not having been updated yet, or the molly tank and platy tank are right next to each other, and someone misread/made a mistake with the labels. Most places tend to store livebearers near each other, and shrimp in their own sections etc, after all!Well, you know the answer already which have been given by my fellow members. I agree with what you're saying. But it's still a lack of knowledge to sell those fish as being another fish. They should've been aware of it that it concerned another type of fish.to be fair, it may just have been a case of the tank labels not having been updated yet, or the molly tank and platy tank are right next to each other, and someone misread/made a mistake with the labels. I do have to admit that it also happens overhere at stores from time to time.
Actually, there are also platy species that have a more stretched bodyshape. Molly species come in short, stretched and moderate sizes. You can see that it's a platy becuase the body is shoter. Molly fish have a more enlongated body while the platty body is shorter.
