Hi, I had only set my new tank up for about a week when I came home from work one day and noticed about 6 Molly fry in my tank. A few days later I'm now counting 18. They have found a few good places to hide and seem to be doing ok so far. They are in beside a few guppies, platies, mollies and neon tetras. None of the other fish seem too fussed with them. . Should I leave them in there or is it still best to try move them into a separate tank? Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If they are doing okay then leave them be. I'm not sure if you are aware of how livebearers (mollies, guppies and platies) breed so you'll need to know that a female livebearer can hold sperm for up to 6 months so even if you only have females you will continue to see fry appearing. You will need to check the fry's sex once old enough as the males can and will breed with their mother and this can lead to birth defects. I would remove any males and ask your lfs if they will take them in - most small independent stores will but it's unlikely they will give you anything for them as they get inundated with this type of fry

Also have you cycled your tank? From what you said it sounds like you haven't so you might start losing fish:(

Have the same multiplication problem.Dont know if i have Mollys or Platys cant remember but the crew is growing.Have a local pet shop that will "adopt" them.I also have a crooked one the has been growing and doing ok for a number of months.Feel bad for him so I will keep him.Charlie
