One of my mollies has started doing this bizarre thrashing motion from side to side. She's shimmying like she's swimming into a really strong current except there's isn't one. She was still eating and swimming around but it looked so unnatural I'm sure there's something wrong with her. I've since taken her out of the community tank and I'm treating her with tea tree oil and a broad spectrum treatment called promethyasul in case she has parasites. Has anyone seen this before? Is it a disease? I don't want her to die because she's a really interesting colour and was hoping to breed from her.

P.S. water is fine.
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
pH 7-7.2

She is the only one with these symptoms. I also keep them in salt so I never see any diseases like Ich, fungus, popeye, etc. This is really weird please help! -_-

hmmm i am stumped by this one. I kept mollies for 5 years before I got my current occupants. Never saw this happen. Sorry I can't help but i do hope she gets better soon.

Hmmm it's hard to tell. When they get the shimmies it isn't good.

I'd keep treating her like you are now if you can't see anything visibly wrong with her like fungus or ich or parasites.

Best of luck,I hope she recovers quickly.

mabey you could give her a salt dip. Sometimes this does wonders for mollies. I hope she gets better for you

Does she list a little to one side or the other? This kind of sounds like a slight problem with the fish's swim bladder.
