ive got a set up tank and no fish.i really want breed the fish
mollies or guppies and why

Ok...if your a newbie wanting to breed mollies and guppiis are virtually the same. However I reccomend guppies they are extremely easy to breed, nice, cheap and like I said easy to breed. ;)

get one male and tow females and put them in the tank after it is cycled an din a months time ur have babys!!!! :D

guppies of different varieties are much funner to breed then mollies in some cases. But they're the same. Little information on the 2.

Mollies come in different shapes and sizes but a little bit erritating to breed cause of the longness "some say" it takes for them to have their offspring. Some say they require salt but I don't believe it cause I have no salt in my tank and these mollies are breeding like crazy but their babies go into the rocks and get eaten by my loaches or get crushed and trapped by the rocks. They're bigger than the guppy fry when born, so easier to catch. Suggested 2 females per a male

Guppies come in different colors, that's about it besides the size of the males tail. These are alot funner to breed cause some say they have babies every month and you can breed for different colors and you'll never get bored of cross breeding and creating new creations. but as a choice I woudl recommend this over a mollie, if you had a giant tank I would recommend the mollies. Also take into consideration swordfish and platties breed. But 2 females per a male guppy.

Mollies or guppies.
If you are a newbie maybe the gups would do being a bit easier to keep and less demanding than mollies. Not that mollies are very difficult but guppies usually can take less favorable tank conditions than mollies.
Also the guppy pregnancy it's a bit shorter, approximately every month you would have a new batch. Both males of the two species would put up a show when it comes to mating, but nothing is cooler than a male sailfin molly performing its mating dance; They circle the female showing off its beautiful finnage and then continues to impregnate her.Guppies do too but,not as fancy or as frequently. But male guppies have lots of stamina and they mate more often than mollies do,they just prefer to skip the foreplay,I guess.
Anyhow....I think you should start with the guppies and then when you master the art of guppy breeding, move on to the mollies. But either way you can't go wrong.
Good luck,and happy breeding :D

I personally think that mollies are hardier and easier to keep alive for a beginer, doesn't get its fins nipped, doesn't have huge fines to worry about all the fin diseases. But they also are bigger, so you can't get as much, not as colorful, and not as fun to breed. But teh guppy has teh colors, the looks, the easinedd and willingness to breed, has babaies more often sometimes, and they are small so you can a bunch, you can make your 'own' color, shape, size fish with the guppy.

hey that's cool......when i first got my tank many years ago......i bred guppies and i was only about nine......there's nothing 2 it and it's kindof exciting getting the first batch because the father might have been a dif guppy from the one u have.....i've never bred mollies b4 but today i just got a female to go with my male so we'll c! i'll just say that guppies r really easy to take care of and so r the fry  :D good luck

thanks alot for all the information.i am going to buy guppies.by the way ive got turtles, seahorses and a crayfish so i think i will do good.thanks again for the info

I prefer mollies. In my experience, they are hardier than guppies and the fry are bigger so they are easier to feed, and also... the males aren't the only ones that are pretty, the females are just as colorful. :) Also their fins aren't long and nippable, like guppies, so you can put other fish in there and they wont be bothered. And allusive is right, you don't necessarily have to have salt in with mollies... OR guppies... to keep them healthy.

I agree with Liz on this one. Looking at my signature you can see that I keep both guppies and mollies in the same tank with other fish. I have also gotten both to breed succesfully. I have no idea what people are talking about by saying that fancy tail guppies are hardier then mollies. The breeding which developed the fancy tail made the guppies weaker and more easily afflicted by disease. Mollies are extremely hardy and do not require salt.
